Should I or shouldn't I keep coloring my hair? I have been adding color for about 10 years now.
Upside:
--I really like the highlights & lowlights foiled color look. It is very saturated and rich looking color.
--Tom likes the color and doesn't want me to get old.
Downside:
--My hair doesn't like long-term dye. Hair falls out so my hair is overall thinner. (So far it has grown back in when the dye starts wearing off but I look at my older sisters and know that some day it may not! :( They both have thinner hair.)
--My mom and both my older sisters had/have white hair. Snow white hair, which I love! My hair seems to be "fading" right now, going from light brown to pale beige. (That sounds weird but I don't know how else to describe it - my evil sister's & mom's hair did that as it faded to white. My older sister, who had black hair went from black to gray to white.)
--It's expensive (altho I can afford it, but still...)
--I dislike what I read about the general health affects of hair dyes. Nothing scientifically conclusive but the trend is there.
Also - do you or don't you?

I always say I won't color when I begin to go fully lighter/grayish. But, I bet it will be a hard decision.
I think aging hair is beautiful as long as it is kept healthy and in an attractive style. That's about all I can conclusively say.
I do at home hair coloring. My hair doesn't respond poorly...yet.
I dye in a haphazard fashion. My own hair is mousy. Sometimes let it grow out a bit (or all the way last year) andthen I get bored with it and dye it.
I like salt and pepper hair on women and doesn't think it makes people look older.
You could always not dye for a while, you can always redye.
I vote for continuing what you're doing. You can go white when you're in the home. How about Tom's hair?
Yikes. That's a tough one. I color every 5 weeks and highlight every 10 weeks. My natural color is horribly drab.
Tom's hair is pretty thin and receeded so he keeps it buzzed very tight. He has black hair that has gone mostly steel gray salt and pepper.
I color my hair somewhat. Mostly it's my natural color, but I put highlights in to brighten up the overall effect.
I don't know if I'll continue to color as I get older. In all honesty, I'm not comfortable with the idea of being all gray/silver/white. But, that could change as I age. I say go with whatever YOU are comfortable doing.
I adore salt and pepper hair on men and women. I think it's super hot.
I don't dye, but it seems to work for my Ima. Of course, she has tons and tons of hair.
I've been thinking about dyeing my hair again. I used to do highlights (myself. I can't afford professionals.) and I really liked the look, but I hated when they would start to grow out. When they started to look bad I would just dye my hair all brown again.
Right now, my hair is not dyed at all. I'm getting bored with it.
Also, I am thinking of dyeing because I have these 3 gray hairs on the top of my head and they torment me.
As long as I can afford to, I will keep coloring and highlighting my hair (by professionals). I tried coloring my hair myself but it just looks so obvious.
I love highlights LOVE THEM.
I have a lot of grey in my hair and it's not a pretty sight.
