My DD Arrives Tonight!

Along with The World's Cutest Grandson - who has gone directly from "little kid" to "young man", completely skipping the "big kid" phase. Some children do that, lol. He wants to be an actor and loves performing on stage. They will arrive sometime in the middle of the night. Good thing she has a key!

So I am busy washing & cleaning. DD has allergies so I really try to get rid of all the possible allergans that I can. Wash pillows, wipe down walls, etc. Well, my cleaning lady is doing much of the really dirty stuff and I am doing more of the fun stuff. Like, the new curtains are hung and look fabulous!

This cartoon was in my paper last Sunday and it totally explains how my housekeeping system works as well as why no one is allowed into my basement...

My Cirque du Soleil Report, etc.

Oh, Kooza was fun! It was not completely sold out like Cirque usually is. I guess the economy is keeping people away from higher priced tickets. WE saw the best performance ever on the double spinnibg hamster wheelss. I'm not sure what their true name is. The appparatus looks like this:
<

Both small wheels revolve around the central point like those double ferris wheels as the whole thing spins. Guys run on the inside and/or outside of the wheels really fast and do tricks. One of the performers did HUGE jumps while running full-tilt boogie on the outside edge. Like - double backward somersaults while his wheel was at its apogee, maybe 45 ft off the ground? What a wow!

I wore my new, bright-print maxi dress. There were quite few maxi dresses out so I felt right in style.

I think in Vegas they have their own permanent building? But the road shows are in the Grand Chapiteau, which folds and moves to the next location when the show is over:

I tucked my purse under my seat and didn't realize until the show was over that it had been in danger of falling into a no-man's land below the stand of seats. Oops! Food was pretty expensive: 2 hot dogs + 1 popcorn + 2 soft drinks was $20. I think that's expensive.

I didn't drink much before the afternoon show - just one morning coffee - so I was completely dehydrated afterwards. I immediately sucked down 1 10 oz bottle of cranberry juice, 1 12 oz bottle of Dr Pepper, and then 2 large glasses of diet pop at Ruby Tuesday, where we went afterwards for an early supper.

A fun, fun day!

Yes I Have Neglected My Blog Randoms:

1. Summer is such a distraction.

2. I got a great deal on some books from Amazon.

3. I am procrastinating abut everything else - why not my blog?

4. Mr Swami has started giving me liquor every night.

5. Last week Mr Swami bought $2,000 worth of chocolates and all I got was one lousy chocolate bar! (Well, the chocolate was very good but it was just one single bar.)

6. One week and counting until my DD from NY State & The World's Cutest Grandson arrive. Too bad they picked a week when the Children's Theater was between productions because grandson has become a huge fan of theater and wants to act. So instead of theater I am taking them to Circus Juventas. It is a student production but at a very high level. Most of the starring kids have been studying in the performance school for 8 - 10 years. As you can see if you squint at the fine print, Cirque du Soleil is one of the school's sponsors.

7. On Sunday, Mr Swami and I are going to see the actual Cirque du Soleil perform Kooza. I feel mildly cheap in not taking the whole family (6 of us) to Kooza but holy heysus you know what those tickets cost, right?

8. I don't like Facebook. It doesn't make me feel connected to anything. It's nice that there are a number of people who put up lots of photos, and photos are nice, but you don't get to know someone by looking at pictures of them. I will take 1,000 blog words for one picture every time. Blogs connect people.

9. Twitter is okay but only if people tweet all the time - and who has time for that?

10. This is the first year I have had Showtime while BB is on. So I watched the BB After Dark thing a couple of times. What a mess! It almost made me want to stop watching the show entirely!

11. And I'm watching Hell's Kitchen again. I have no excuse, lol. Well, I like their opening credit production.

12. We had almost an inch of rain yesterday! This is the most rain we've had in one day since Oct 7, 2008. So yes - it's a bit dry. And during our one thunderstorm of the year so far a 14 year-old girl in my town was struck by lightening & killed. Oldest of 3 daughters.

13. Who wants to come and put up some new curtain rods for me? I bought some great new curtains for our guest room on eBay. Aren't they gorgeous?

Until now that room has only had blinds, so it needs curtain rods.

I'm going to end on 13 because I'm feeling lucky!

I Feel So Grown Up Today

Or old or something.
Today I am buying three gravesites - for me, Mr Swami & our DS. For special effects I will do this on a gloomy day, in the rain. Very appropriate, yes? But they're nice graves - on a hillside, shaded with mature cedar trees, over-looking a very small wetland. It's a place I happen to drive by often, at least once a week.

We are not planning on using these purchases any time soon, but want this cemetary before it sells out. It's a smaller, non-denominational, historic cemetary dating from 1871.

To Be Or Not To Be?

There are too many places to be! Blogger. Twitter. Facebook. Emails. BNB. HSClassmates. I can't keep up and I don't know where my virtual me is anymore. I may just pick one or two places and back out of the rest. TG I am not also on Myspace and/or SB. Altho, this is the one time of year that I do miss SB - the start of another Big Brother mess. With Julie preggers no less! Yes, I will miss SB tomorrow. Joker's just isn't the same; plus it is yet another place to be (or not.)

Who's who? Who's where? Who's on First? I have no idea...

Crumbly

I've been feeling rather crumbly these past few days.
*picks up a little fallen off piece of me & wonders how to stick it back*

We had our 4th BBQ on the 3rd because on the 4th we went to Mr Swami's mom's farm & you never really know what's going to happen there. This year - not much. Turns out the people we most wanted to see actually went there on the 3rd & nobody told us that clearly beforehand. Or some were coming on the 5th. So we missed seeing the two newest babies.

I have to leave for Bridge in a few minutes. Still loving Bridge!

Things I Steal Shamelessly:

1. Twisties from my grocery store. I love twisties and I use them all the time to hold bags of snack & other stuff closed. Used to be, you got a bunch of twisties every time you bought baggies but now all baggies are ziplock. No twisties :( So every time I am in the produce dept of CUB I rip off a dozen or so twisties and hide them in my purse. I am such a scofflaw! /list

What? You were expecting more? I feel quite guilty enough about my purloined ties tyvm. I couldn't handle more guilt!

Happy 4th of July!
