There is almost nothing I will watch live! Survivor & TAR are about the only shows I will watch live because I can't stand to find out what happened before I see the show! By watching only recorded shows I save about 12 minutes per hour in view time, and start or stop watching whenever I want.

I watch the news shows the next morning while I work on my computer. The home improvement shows I usually watch on the weekend, in little bunches. If I don't like the home improvement topic showing I just erase it & move on. Most of these shows have different seasons so they are not all on every week.

Any questions?

Stoopid Icky Brownies!

While I was at Trader Joe's buying my Tapioca Pudding I randomly bought some brownie bites because, well, because they were there. The wrappings trumpeted that they were made with sea salt. This did not phase me - lots of good things are made with sea salt. I should have read the fine print. These brownies were topped with sea salt, not just made with it. They tasted all salty! Like, potato chip salty!!!

Holy Ick Factor! This may be the first time that a package of brownies just sits on the kitchen counter & rots. No one wants to eat the darn things. What was Trader Joe thinking?????

Um - Oops!

Kim gently reminded me in my last post that if I want to read blogs then I need to be part of the blog-writing people so there are blogs to be read. Only she was way more succinct. Anyway - here for your reading pleasure (or whatever) is my mind today.

1. Finally! I have my car back! My middle D has been driving my car as her "loaner" for the past 2 weeks, ever since she got rear-ended by an idiot in an extended cab pick-up (with trailer attached.) As reward for my generosity in letting her use my car so she could get to work and finish moving into her new place she was pretty much inconsiderate to me in general through the whole process.

2. Turns out? I am not ready for Fall. I haven't gone outside yet today because I think I might need a jacket and I am in denial. Jacket = Fall.

3. My latest snack food fetish is Garden of Eatin' Multi Grain Everything Tortilla Chips, with Flax Seeds! They are so freaking good! Really, really good!

4. My MIL will turn 90 next March and I am trying to provide interesting ideas to celebrate the occasion without getting sucked into doing anything that will require huge, huge amounts of time. Or money. They are a cheap bunch, most of Mr Swami's family, and will happily "delegate" away anything that involves spending money. Which wouldn't bother me so much if they didn't then simultaneously get all critical because we spent money.

5. Hey in despiration for something to read online yesterday I wandered over to OT where I have not been in months - and lo & behold there was a goodbye post from pre at the top of the page! He is a huge part of why I left. Not because of his views themselves but because of his (to me) passive aggressive manipulations. Whatever. I was thisclose to actually looking up my old password and saying something on OT.. But I got over it. And I think this is just more passive aggressive drama anyway.

6. Today is Tapioca Pudding Day! To celebrate having a car again I plan to go to Trader Joe's in Woodbury and buy me some tapioca pudding. They make delicious pudding and I haven't had any since maybe Spring? I think I bought a container of pudding this Spring. I meant to.

7. I am also going to go to HomeGoods and buy something. I have no idea what, but something pretty.

8. My sister in Hawaii finally sold her house. Now I have to fear that she is trying to move in with me! Sorry, that is not going to happen. Even if she comes for a visit with no return ticket, as she is planning this Christmas. I figure she can stay for 2-3 weeks then I am putting her on a plane, a train or into a retirement residence in Stillwater. Her choice.

9. It is really really windy today. Not rainy, which we need, but gloomy & windy.

10. Who wants to clean up my mail monster?

They're Ba-aack!

My middle D, age 25, & her BF moved into their first apt last fall. It was a very good experience in growing up for both of them, and best of all they weren't underfoot here all the time anymore. I love my D but she & I are just not meant to share a house at this time in her (and my?) life. It doesn't work. She can't keep teenage resentments & 'oversights' out of the equation and thus I wind up never sure if I am responding appropriately to her.

Anyway, they decided that they can't save for a house while paying $700 for their nice apt in the nice apt complex. So they will be moving into a basement mother-in-law apt that his mom has in a nearby (12 miles away) suburb. I think she is over-charging them for rent ($400) considering that she otherwise would not rent the space and she will continually require her son to do misc yard & maintenance work - but that is just my opinion. They are also paying 1/2 the cost ($600) of expanding a bedroom to fit their needs.

So while the bedroom expansion goes on they are here. And a bunch of their boxes of stuff, two kitchen chairs and a swivel rocker are blocking my main hallway. I'm just not happy. And I know talking about it is going to produce an attack of teenager syndrome from my D.

I was liking my empty nest!
And now Mr Swami can't walk around naked anymore. :(

Random Complainy Stuff

I don't blog much anymore, do I? I can't believe it's been a week!

Although I may have more time now. I think Facebook offed me. I can't log in and when I look for myself in other people's friends list I am not there. Was it something I said? Like - "I don't like Facebook"? I guess BBF (Big Brother Facebook) is always watching.

I am starting to get disenchanted with my Bridge playing group. I may just drop out next month if stuff doesn't improve. Unless some bloggy person wants to fly in once a week and be my partner?

YOu know how when you drive past a store through their parking lot there are often people waiting to cross over to the parking area? Usually I stop my car and wave them across. It seems polite, and I like when people do that for me. Well, the last 2 times I stopped the people I politely waved across just stepped off the curb and took off in front of me at a weird tangent! So I had to wait while they walked directly in front of me until they reached their parking row! What idiots! I am not inviting you to walk down the middle of the road - just to cross the road!

My DD is moving this weekend so I traded vehicles with her for a few days. My spacious minivan for her Nissan sedan. The minivan is a real workhorse at hauling stuff - it's amazing what big things will just slide right inside! Anyway - her car is a trashcan. The back seat and floor are littered with random papers, objects and fast food wrappers. The floor in front is less littered, but still - I was embarrassed to drive it.

Mr Swami works late again today. This is the great downside of having full- and part- time jobs. I can't wait for him to retire! (Which will be a few years.)

My camera died and took all the pics I took when DD was here to the grave with it. Stoopid camera!!!

Untitled

1. I have temporarily run out of appropriate blog titles. And I'm tired of saying "random".

2. The parakeets are driving me nuts. They have decided to screech loudly every time I turn on the TV. But ha! their cage is on wheels so lately they have been spending more time in the bathroom than your average set of caged birds.

3. My new favorite TV show is What Would Brian Boitano Make? on the Food Network. I find it amusing and his food dishes are interesting and uncomplicated. So he can entertain me until the big guns of Survivor & TAR return to the air.

4. Bacon is clear evidence that Islam & Judaism are imperfect religions, and BLTs are the final proof.

5. Had a weird dream on Sunday. My elderly neighbour moved in with us and appointed me the Commissioner of Basketball. Then she hung around naked in the hot tub. Her boobs were nicer than mine.

6. While driving through Stillwater at about 8 pm on Saturday I spotted 2 saddled stock horses tied to a parking meter in front of a Main Street bar. I have never seen that before!

7. I can't think of any way for Michelle to win and this makes me sad.

8. Mr Swami and I have decided that sometime this Fall we are going to have sex on our gravesites. Remember when we bought them earlier in July? We think this would be a good way for us to sanctify our final resting place, since we are not religious and stuff. Isn't that a good idea? There was a full moon this weekend, so no go. And we gotta do it before the leaves drop. It's probably illegal even though technically we own the land, but the idea has become irresistible lol. I think I will Rest In Peace better knowing that I am going to a place that Mr Swami & I have pre-blessed.

9. I never did find yellow watermelon this summer.

10. Today they are starting to resurface the main state highway near my house. Hopefully the road will be mostly passable for driving even though it is technically closed to traffic. For residents on the river side of the highway there IS no alternate route so they have to keep it open to local traffic. I believe this is a Stimulus Money funded construction project so I would like to thank you all for my newish road.

They will use one (or more?) of those machines that scrape off the existing blacktop, chew it up and then lay it right back down with some extra binders or sealers or something. My car is going to be so happy!

I Am Not Ready For September!

Where did my summer go?

I have not yet eaten enough bi-color sweet corn.
I have not grilled any kebabs at all!
I have so many undone summer projects!
Like painting the deck railings & fixing my twig deer.

This summer my favorite new food has been grilled squash. Grilled yellow squash is totally delicious and I did not know that until this year.

My favorite event was the visit of my daughter & grandson.

My favorite event that didn't happen was the trip Mr Swami and I did not make to Mt Rushmore. He just wouldn't commit.

My favorite new activity remains playing Bridge.
