Like dogs at heel? Those political wives whose husbands have banged hookers / had multiple affairs over years / done restroom gay-mating dances in my airport? Etc.? I don't get it.
I understand that people and marriages are complex things and many marriages can and do survive stuff like I mentioned. I just don't get the wive dressing up, putting on pearls and then standing there like a posed showdog.
No one loves their husband more than I do, but if he were a public person, publically outted in a situation like I mention above he would face the damn cameras alone, while I stayed off-camera and did something that involved emoting! Like spitting, ripping stuff up and setting small fires. We would probably survive, but I would never put on pearls and stand at heel. Screw that!

Hear, hear. My theory is the marriage isn't so much about love anymore as it is about money. At least that's what Law and Order has taught me.
Yep, it's about the money and power. I believe most spouses of politicians love all the benefits and don't want to give them up.
So, the wives stand there posing with their bad husbands hoping that the public will forgive the guy. I guess they hope that if they can forgive him, the public will forgive him, and then they can go back to their rich and powerful lives.
So I'm nor rich and powerful?

Yep it's not about love, they talked about this on the Early Show this morning. They had a couple of relationsip "experts" on.
I guess she won't be living in the White House any time in the future.

I'm guessing these wives are not completely innocent either. After years of the treatment you described, chances are that they have their own "vices" or whatever you want to call them. I think you're right, when real love is involved, it would take a LOT to be able to stand there like robots and be supportive.
Nevermind the Republican comment; I just heard that he's a Democrat. I wonder if his wife has known all along about these shenanigans. The ones I feel the most sorry for are his teenage DAUGHTERS!
I don't get it either. I am assuming that some of these marriages are more like a business arrangement. They wives promise to provide a united front for a certain time.
I agree that a marriage can survive but I would love to see the guy up there alone trying to defend himself.

Puffy he is a Democrat. The thing that is so shocking about this to the media is that usually there are rumors all along. If they don't have concrete proof then they are not going to report it. However with this guy he kept it very concealed. The media had no idea and neither did a lot of his close friends.
His whole campaign was run on "cleaning up" illegal institutions including brothels.
