Alton Brown. I love this guy!!! Why did I never even know of his quirky & fab show Good Eats until this week? Brown is a geeky foodie (foodie geek?) and his shows are just chock full of all sorts of crazy factoids about nutrition content, serving sizes, food pairings, food history, animal husbandry, string theory, knife sharpening and good old physical chemistry. I'm in love! His delivery is perfect deadpan, fast & furious - by the time you're ready to laugh at one of his geeky jokes/references he has moved on to the next thing. He's like a mad scientist on speed - who cooks!
Today I watched him French a juicy rack. Hilarious! Educational! And then there's the Lady of the Refrigerator. I tell you, I love this guy! Go to Food Network, find Good Eats and tape a few shows. He geeking hilarious!

OMG, have YOU been missing out! Best cooking show on TV. I want to own the DVD collection, but I'm too cheap to buy it. Just reading the episode titles even makes me laugh.
Welcome to the world of Alton, Swami. *cheers*
Yeah, I rarely watch the Food Network because usually I don't like the people who have shows - but this guy rocks! My DVR is currently set to 'record all eps' so I will catch up fast.
I love to find cool little half hour shows because they work out perfectly to ride my exercise bike to!
I grew up watching Julia Child's cooking show.
Will do. I konw this is going to shock some of you, but I rarely watch The Food Network. I don't know why, I just don't.
My friend has one of his books and I have spent hours reading that thing.
Maybe I should buy my own?
Welcome to the dark side, Swami. I love Alton.
Like Bob, I've curled up and read his books, too. I also have my Kosher salt in a container like he does, and I've made several of his recipes.
What I love is that he teaches you the "why it works this way" of food, which makes experimentation in the kitchen a lot more fun.
Oh yes, of all the shows since my evil cable company took Food Network off my package, Good Eats is the one I miss the most.
I just lvoe Alton Brown so much.
So. Much.
Hey Swami and everyone-I'm in Australia and I posted on my blog, so go check it out!
Love, Puffy
Books? He has books?
*rubs hands together and giggles all high-pitched & girly*
And you all knew about him (except for Boo) and yet you didn't tell me!?! Do I not deserve to be told stuff like this?
*stands on head and waves to Puffy*
Alton is the best! Love watching him! SOrry that you have missed out on him for so long!
