Unrelated Stuff

1. I got my parakeets today - 1 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow and 1 torquise & white 'pinto'. Tom will be so surprised. He has no idea I was getting birds.

2. Bare-chested high achool boys are too young. I had to drive by the entire Stillwater HS boy athletes as they jogged down the side of the road today - maybe 50 kids. All those buff young bodies and they just made me feel all maternal. I guess I am not a dirty old woman after all.

3. You know that commercial they are running during the Olympics where they sing "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" while they show quick clips of all kinds of past & present Olympic moments? At the very end they show some short stocky guy in ginormous shin guards running like hell down a track, in the dark. What the heck is that? It's driving me crazy!

Don't worry, we still think you are a dirty old lady, Swami. :-)

I love that song. It's by the Killers, one of my favorite groups of the millenium. I just went and watched the commercial (it's for Nike) and am perplexed. I'm not sure those are shin guards. His feet look tiny, and his shins huge.

How do you just go watch a commercial? *head tilt* You kids and your computer skills!

I want to know who that guy is, and why he's running in the dark.

1. Birds, eh? For some reason, birds mostly scare me. I hope Tom is ok with it!

2. I'm with Kim. We'll still think of you as a dirty old lady. *grin*

3. Never seen it.

Yay for colorful birdies!

My DH likes to remind me that my step-sons are the same age as some young men that I drool over. That quickly cools me down LOL.

The guy at the end of that commercial is a runner with prosthetic legs.

I can not say that I was sad when we lost our bird. Very noisy animals. I wish you luck. :)

I was wondering that, nookie, as the feet seemed like "not feet."

Nookie! Nookie!
You're alive!!!

Okay, now I feel a little bad for thinking he was weird. It doesn't explain why he's running in the dark but it does explain his different looking legs & gate. Maybe he was the first guy to run on artificial legs? Because modern prosthetic legs are very distinctive-looking and not at all like fleshy legs & feet.

I'm amazed that you got some birdies without telling Tom. I haven't seen the commercial because I fast-forward through most of the commercials. By the way, 20 USA women in the Olympics are moms.

Did Kim tell you that I felt almost like a dirty old lady at the 3-Day? There was a fella there with just the most beautiful eyes. He was on our pit crew, and he was just so cute and so funny. But he was 19. WTF??? I had to keep telling myself that all weekend.

19 is almost old enough, Boo. I think I was looking at a bunch of 15 & 16 year-olds. Okay, maybe some were 18.

Puffy, we have had birds before so I know Tom has no allergies or issues with them. And parakeets are pretty low impact. Way lower than, say, four surprise South American Macaws! I think they're sweet. I have named them for Olympians, lol.

What did you name them?

Michael Phelps' mother has filmed a commercial and will be doing some kind of representation for Chico's clothing store.
