I'm Out. Probably Until July 1

I have decided to make a quick visit to see my sister Carole. She has had a pacemaker for her heart condition for a few years now, and had nothing but trouble. Evidently her heart is one of the few that just can't be properly regulated so her pacemaker has to kick in dozens & dozens of times each day. It has really impacted her life.

She used to be a real athlete--tennis, jogging, always in perfect shape but now she can't even go for long walks because that will trigger an episode. She and my brother (both older--I'm the change-of-life baby, remember?) both had heart conditions and she is now the same age as he was when he died too young. So I think that doesn't help her frame of mind much. I'm going to go and just focus on her, maybe see a few old family friends with her. That's it. My oldest daughter is going to drive up at the same time so I will get see my grandson again--yay for that!

It's kinds funny--Carole and my brother, of all the children, were the two who really worked at having healthy life styles and they are the two who had heart conditions. My other older sister and I have no problems despite the fact that we eat, drink, stay up too late, etc. Funny how that works.

Enjoy the rest of June! See you soon.

Isn't she in Hawaii?

You're a good sister to be doing this Swami. Safe travels and I hope you have a very nice visit with your sister.

*HUGS*

I should qualify: I am not in perfect health and shape. I could stand to lose a bunch of weight. I have bad knees (as do all the women in my family it would seem. I don't exercise enough and I need glasses to see. But I'm generally okay.

Sick sister & brother never needed glasses to see, but both had cataracts fairly young and sister had a detached retina. Other sister & I? Glasses since we were teens, but no eye problems when we were young. (Oldest sister is starting cataracts now but is still in denial. I have no traces of them.) See the pattern here?

This is the sister in Ontario, Nookie. In an ideal world I would go meet Seana (waves to Seana) but I just don't see that as a possibility in this short notice quick trip.

Sister is a troglodyte and does not have internet.

I typed troglodyke first, hee-hee. That would be a prehistoric lesbian, no?

I am such a ninny. I couldn't find my favorite pair of dress pants to pack. I searched high & low, I took apart my closet shelves, I looked in Tom's stuff, my son's stuff. Nothing.

Then I thought, maybe I already packed them? So everything comes out of the suitcase and there they are at the very bottom. I must have packed them first to be sure I didn't forget. Jeesh. They're black; they disappeared as soon as they went in.

Also? Remember your umbrella.

And I'm back. Just too whipped to start a sister-visit post. Tomorrow is Max Day so I will not have much time then either.

Eventually however I will start talking about my visit and not shut up at all, because nothing can pull your strings like family can.

I feel like I was gone for a month!

yay! I'm glad you're back Swami! I missed you the most, of course!
